Frequently Asked Questions
Some of the more frequently asked questions include:
Will I be licensed when I complete your course?
There is no provincial licensing available or required in British Columbia or most Provinces. You will however receive a certificate that will allow you to seek employment in the industry and purchase products wholesale from beauty distributors.
Do you teach acrylic?
No we do not use acrylic in our studio or our education center. We train exclusively on the en Vogue Nail System. en Vogue has everything you need to start your career and is ideal for beginners. en Vogue is one of the highest quality resin's on the market which will eliminate most of the common problems that techs can have with other products, especially when they are learning. With an acrylic product the curing process takes place while you are sculpting the nail making it difficult to create the perfect nail. With en Vogue the curing process does not take place until you have completed your sculpting and then place it under a UV light, which means your nails are always perfectly formed when you decide to cure them, regardless of your timing. Acrylics can be very hard to file and require that you use an electric file, which can lead to problems, especially as a beginner. en Vogue is soft and flexible which is why it is so durable, but it also means that you can hand file when first learning and then gradually add electric filing for speed as your skill and comfort level increase. en Vogue is an odourless product so it is ideal for any work environment (home, spa, salon or wellness centers). enVogue is also non porous so it will not support any fungus and is ideal for applications on toes. Perhaps the biggest reason why I love en Vogue is that it is a very finger friendly product. It has no harsh chemicals or primer so I do not get any allergic reaction from the product, which I do get from so many acrylic products. The UV curing process is a revolutionary adhesion process that ensures the health of your clients nail beds, so along with the ability to perfectly sculpt, the ease of filing and high grade resin you will do nails like a pro and ensure that your clients are extremely happy from day 1.
Will I lose business if I don't learn acrylic?
Absolutely not, we are exclusively en Vogue in our salon and work with acrylic clients all the time. en Vogue can be applied directly over acrylic if required. The key to making money is making sure that your customers come back. To do that you need to do an awesome set of nails with a high quality product, regardless of what that product is. en Vogue just happens to make it easy for you.
Some courses are 10 months, some are 80Hrs and some are 40Hours, why is yours 80Hrs?
We follow a manufacturer's agenda. en Vogue is a local company and the President "Arlene Rushworth" has run some of the most successful nail salons in Vancouver. en Vogue is very in tune with what it takes to become a great technician in our local market. Their agenda ensures that you learn all the required techniques to be successful with their product.
Is there an advantage to learning a single product?
Yes especially if you are taking a condensed course and if the product can be used in all applications, in all workplaces, and is as easy to learn as en Vogue. I learned Gel, Fibreglass, Acrylic and all the best techniques with each and believe me, there was a lot to learn. I started my business right out of school and struggled big time. It wasn't until I found the right product and mastered its techniques that I saw success. This program is a fantastic building block for your career. It ensures that you will have the product and techniques required to succeed when you graduate. You can always learn other products and techniques later, after you have successfully mastered one.
Do you provide advanced education and support?
As the exclusive distributor for en Vogue we can assist you with any situation or problem. I am in constant contact with my graduates because we supply most of them product. I run advanced classes at no cost (product charges may apply) to my students or others in the industry so the learning never stops.
How long have you been in the industry?
I have been in the industry for about 15 years and educating internationally with en Vogue since 2000. I have been running the Vancouver Island Training Center since 2002.
Where do we buy product?
